The new 3D film (real D 3D and Imax 3D) based on the Marvel comic book characters is expected to earn more than $1-billion worldwide, soon. Not bad for a film that was made for a budget of $220 million!

The film stars Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, and Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye – to name only a few from the stellar line-up of this film! No wonder it’s doing so well!

Titanic film rereleased in IMAX 3D

The 3 hour and 15 minute film is back in theaters again, now with 3D on IMAX screens. If you wanted to relive the spectacle of the original film from 1997/98, now you can in an even bigger way!

It will cost nearly $20 per ticket to see it, but for a movie that runs over 3 hours, and has a 15 minute intermission, a screening is more of an event than a regular movie.

Titanic is currently playing in 3D IMAX on over 2500 screens.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax 3D Blu-ray

Based in the classic Dr. Seuss’ story, the film is about: “A boy searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.”

Amazon is now taking pre-orders for the 3D Blu-ray edition of the film Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.

The animated film was released in 2012, and stars the voices of: Danny DeVito as The Lorax, Ed Helms as The Once-ler, Zac Efron as Ted, Taylor Swift as Audrey, and Betty White as Grammy Norma. The estimated budget was $70,000,000USD.

LG to release an 84-inch LCD TV this year!

The 84-inch LG 84LM9600 is due out by this summer in much of the world! Get your 3D glasses ready!

This TV promises improved 3D display resolution, with the biggest consumer screen yet!

It will be one of the first displays with 4K resolution, which is a new technology that will enhance 3D viewing. What is 4K resolution? It’s 4 times the resolution of 1080p, or 3,840×2,160 pixels!

LG is calling this new technology “UD,” which stands for “ultra-definition,” or “UDTV” for short. That’s even bigger than Quad HD!

Lytro Light Field Camera

A new camera has been released that steps up the 3D game; the Lytro Light Field Camera.

It records light “on all planes” and in a resolution of “11 Megarays: the number of light rays captured by the light field sensor.” The camera contains several “microlenses” that allow the camera to take a picture without the need to focus beforehand – and gives the camera the ability to refocus the image – after – it has been taken! This is because the camera captures several different angles at once.

The images are viewed on a touchscreen on the rear of the camera, and can be downloaded (Mac only for now). The entry level model is priced at $399 (USD, we assume).

STAR WARS EPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE 3D

Yes, it’s been re-released in 3D! This prequel film from 1999 has been given the 3D treatment and is in theaters now. It looks like all the Star Wars films are going to be re-released, likely in 3D. Watch this blog for more news.

View-Master images go digital 3-D!

For over 65 years, the View-Master has been an amazing part of childhoods! It was one of the first ways many of us were introduced to 3D images.

Later this year, Fisher-Price will be releasing digital 3-D images from it’s View-Master image archive! The images will be able to be viewed on a wide variety of hand-held devices and 3D TVs, and will cost $1.99 USD per set. No word on a digital View-Master yet, but that would be great!

Hasbro has already released a device called My3D, which works by displaying images from an iPod touch or iPhone. It sells for about $30 USD.

Toshiba’s new 3D TV: no glasses required

The resolution of this TV is about 4 times that of regular HD TVs, which makes finding content for it a problem! Currently, the only movie that will be able to take advantage of the REGZA’s resolution is The Hobbit, due to be completed about a year from now, in December 2012.

The REGZA TV is now out, and currently only available in Japan. It costs a reported $12,000.
